9 26TH ANNUAL CRIME PREVENTION GUIDE MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF SUMMERSIDE On behalf of Council and the City of Summerside I would like to convey many congratulations to the Prince Edward Island Police Association on their 26th Annual Crime Prevention Guide publication. This year’s theme “Domestic Terrorism Awareness focusing on the Radicalization of our Youth” is a relevant and timely topic to educate and discuss with the public. Terrorism remains the principal threat to national security, stressing the need to work with communities to counter insidious recruitment efforts on Canadian soil. Radicalization of youth is becoming one of the most important threats of international terrorism in the world today. Socially isolated, disenchanted young men and women turn to extremism in their search for identity, acceptance and purpose. I extend congratulations to all police officers who are dedicated and committed to their jobs and through their skills and programs ensure residents and visitors experience the highest level of service and an exceptional quality of life here in the City of Summerside. I am proud in knowing pertinent information will be shared with our community, and along with other crime prevention programs will ensure our City is a safe and healthy place in which to live, work and raise a family. Congratulations on your 26th publication of the Annual Crime Prevention Guide and many thanks to all for their dedication and hard work that it takes to accomplish this publication. Sincerely, Bill Martin Mayor City of Summerside
